Just wondering if when I’m fasting and I take omegas, probiotic and an ECA stack does this stop the fast?

Coffee and creamer aren’t considered a break in the fast if it’s part of your routine, so I wouldn’t consider vitamins and supplements that are part of your routine, a break either. I take all my vitamins with my coffee that has 2T of fat free 1/2 and 1/2 every morning, fast day or not. On fast days, I do not consume any other calories until my designated eat time. Hope that helps.

Hi girls! Can someone tell me, on fast days I can still have coffee with creamer? Isn’t the creamer considered fat and sugar?

Yes, technically creamer does contain calories and consumption of any calories would break a fast, however, do you really want to make it more difficult over a few calories? I think I read somewhere that Brad doesn’t consider it a break in Eat Stop Eat if its under 50 calories or something like that. I just don’t like to make things harder than they need to be and I’m not going to spoil my success and efforts over a routine and 20 liquid calories in my coffee. If I give that up, I will fail. I know I will so I don’t set myself up for failure. I stick to my routine that enables me to succeed. That is my personal belief and sticking to it has made fasting possible for me, if I can go 24 hours with 20 calories, I call it a win!!

According to ESE, anything under 50 calories total doesn’t break a fast. So if you need creamer in your coffee, enjoy! I have 2.5 cups every morning with my 1% milk and am at 46 calories. i’d be a wreck without it so it’s well worth it to me.

      Hi there,

I’m new here and I am struggling with fasting in the morning and was thinking about using PGX to suppress my appetite/hunger in the morning.

Thoughts? Tips on how to help extend my morning fast? I’m aiming to cut down my 1200 to my 1000 target daily calories by increasing my morning fast.

I have to admit I have late dinners at 9pm though.

I’m a later dinner eater too but that’s why it was so easy for me to just have an extra cup of coffee in the morning and skip breakfast. I realized I wasn’t hungry – just bored – and so the extra coffee helped distract me.

I’ve been shocked at how easy the fasts have come to me, but these posts help understand the physiology of that a bit more. It stands to reason that when the body has an extreme excess of fat, fasting can be accommodated much more readily. The fasts I have done haven’t triggered anything bingey and in fact, almost seem to promote MORE fasting. I can see doing two 24-hour fasts in a week during this beginning stage of weight loss as an effective way to fat burn while the reserves are still so abundant. I’ve been trying to determine if a longer fast is in some way detrimental at my current weight, I’m leaning toward “probably not” given that I am nowhere near the lean stage and I’ve been trying to pay attention to how my body responds. Any thoughts on a longer than 24-hour fast (36-48 hours) during weight loss mode would be appreciated.

There are just a few who seemed to like the longer fasts. Mainly Brad P. says the hormone benefits you get with the 24 hour fast happen from hours 15-24 and then no more benefit. Personally I’ve never had any use for longer than 24 hours. 24 seems like enough to me, even when I had significant body fat.

I wanted to add, if you feel fine with the longer I don’t want to discourage you from experimenting. Since you are paying attention to how you feel and your health, it might be a fun experiment. In that case what’s the worst that could happen, you have some food to eat right? Stay hydrated and electrolytes.

Thank you, Izabelle. I started a 24-hour fast last week and felt compelled to keep going so I just did. I didn’t notice any negative effects other than when I did finally eat I needed to drink a ton of water afterward though I felt like I’d stayed hydrated during my fast. I’ll experiment with trying 2 fasts during the week rather than 1 since I seem inclined to want to fast. I figure I may as well take advantage of it! I’d rather get maximum benefit from two separate fasts, which it sounds like I’d get from the hormone response in hours 15-24.
