Hi all, I’d love to find a few people to chat with as I go about this again.

I’m a real healthy 65 y/o and want to lose about 10-15 pounds to drop from a BMI of 22 to about 20. That’s be from 132-120#s. It ain’t easy !!

I’m doing 16/8 intermittent fasting on an off – today is ON : ). I like that when I can do it without being hungry. Maybe some of you know more than I do about staving hunger off. Hunger does not every seem too healthy.

I have not done the intermittent day long fasting routine and would be interested in your experience if you have gone from the 16/8 to the what is it – 5/2 routine, where one eats 3 days then fasts for 24 hours, then again.

Would love to chat with you if we have some things in common !

(OK, I’m a musician (gtr and voc), love the out of doors, currently swimming a mile a day most every day, work in health care, live in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon, there’s some things : )

      Best to you !

      Hi Ah-tee and Welcome!

I have not done the intermittent day long fasting routine and would be interested in your experience if you have gone from the 16/8 to the what is it – 5/2 routine, where one eats 3 days then fasts for 24 hours, then again.

Well, 5/2 fasting is basically what Eat Stop Eat plan is. Many people find it much easier than daily fasting routines like 16/8 style because you will deal with hunger only 2 times a week, not every single day.

Also, it’s worth to remember that 5/2 fasting is just a tool to create a calorie deficit that is required for weight loss. If you fast for 24 hours, make sure that at least 12 hours would be sleeping. It’s very flexible, not required, and every day does not have to be the same. You can fast from dinner to dinner, breakfast to breakfast or lunch to lunch. All that matters is the energy deficit in a 24 hour period, extend it out 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days for results. Repeat as often as needed.

      I hope that makes sense.

I just posted a question in the basics section, but I’ll post it here too, because the other threads aren’t active.

I’ve been doing the dinner to dinner 24 hour fasting window, but I find my hunger really kicks in at 18 hours in. What if I turned the window on it’s head and fasted from breakfast to breakfast? Then, that hour 18 and on would be spent sleeping?

Don’t know if that would change, but I’m wondering if anyone has thought or tried sleeping at the end of the fast?
