I’ve been having a hard time being covert and under wraps when I am so psyched about dieting & ESE. My girlfriend, who has been brainwashed as much as I was..and she’s still “drinking the kool-aid”, she’s stil eating out of baggies, every 3 hours and I want her to see the light just as I have! So when I say I’m fasting she looks at me like I’m crazy. “what about your metabolism?” she says? “You’ll be sorry” she adds. Mind you, I’m still plump so I’m hoping seeing will be believing when I’m finally at my ideal waist size….anyway she is a firm believer in the cleanse. Shakes and controlled eating with 4 days of cleansing..which is 4oz of cleanse juice 4 times a day and nothing else.

This week fasting was easy but coming off it is killing me… I’m eating without thinking, I could win a speed eating contest….and lets talk about gum, shall we? I’m now a chain-chewer… Doesnt feel too good! One good thing is im still craving good healthy things after a fast. Can’t wait to et some veggies…love that! I’m a little afraid to weigh or measure, I’m afraid I won’t be happy with my results.

Sounds good to me….you could say you are on a ‘cleanse’ – what is ‘cleaner’ than water? I think thats a GREAT idea. “Fasting” sounds revolutionary, whereas “cleansing” has become more main stream and acceptable – even if they are doing something like lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 10 days straight. I’ve had some friends who I’ve known not to give too much information too, and others that wanted more info and are now joining me on the counting calories thing and seeing results. I judge it by how many questions they ask and how quick they are to shoot it down vs. sincere questions and credulity.

Fasting is the ultimate cleanse. Giving your digestive system a rest. All that other “cleansing” stuff is just woo-woo pseudo science and marketing BS. Humans and most vertebrates can go for fairly prolonged periods without food. In fact in nature and in earlier periods when humanity was not awash in excess calories food deprivation was fairly common. We have a most excellent source of energy in our fat stores.

That’s what they are there for. Unless you are on the brink of REAL starvation (no one in modern America fits that bill) you do not catabolize your muscles or organs for fuel. So all those peeps @ 30% body fat complaining about their metabolisms are deluding themselves. Seriously. What the hell do you think that junk in the trunk is for?? That would be my response to all those naysayers.

Another thing- unless your friends look like this guy:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Andersonvillesurvivor.jpg
they can forget about starvation mode or broken metabolisms or any other BS being bandied about on the inter webs. Like I said that’s what fat is for- energy and it comes off pretty quickly if you eat a lot less. Fasting is a pretty good tool to do that.

You’re doing great! Just keep on keepin on. Your results wil speak for themselves. I never tell anyone about fasting/skipping meals. The looks and remarks I get are unbelievable. It seems to make more sense to people to gulp down lemon juice, cayenne pepper & maple syrup then to just ‘take a break from eating’. Go figure.

Fasting is the best cleanse you can give your body. She will see your results and may change her way of thinking. I too have a friend that believe in counting all her protein and bags all her food for the day. She has tried to get me to do it, even before I found ESE and I flat out told her, I can’t do that. It would drive me insane. We have talked about how basically no matter what diet method you use, if it works it is really because you are lowering your calories. For the time being just keep on keeping on and you will both see the results, of both ways.

I have experieinced this too! WHen I tell people I fast, their jaws drop and start on their little shpeel on how its for the metabolism, your starving yourself, blah, blah, blah. I know how I feel when I fast, I am still able to pump out the heavy iron and I’m finally seeing results after “drinking the kool aid” for over a decade. It sucks to be covert, and I find that I can talk freely with my husband about what I’m doing and feeling without any regrets. The other side to being covert, is that I feel like I am in on the secret and everyone wants to know what it is, but I’m just keeping my lips sealed for now.

Fasting is the ultimate cleanse and just plain eating less will do more for your body than constant eating. It is a shame we have to be covert, but better that than allowing a ‘drink the kool aid’ friend to derail us. Before long your results will speak for themselves. Then maybe people will listen…or not.

You sound so happy. I think you will find you are the winner in the end. I had a friend who didn’t believe me when I started, and we started our journey at the same time. She had a trainer who kept telling her to eat more protein. In the end she gained and was frustrated, her trainer was supposed to be helping her do a fitness show but she never got to do it. She ended up asking me for help and started fasting. The proof is in the pudding. You will get there. I love how happy you sound.
