I admit – I’m a breakfast cereal junkie! So I’m switching to steel cut oats – and have a great trick of adding half a sweet potato and spoon of black strap molasses – so filling, and I’m thinking GOOD for me!

QUESTION: is there a time of day when I could have my breakfast cereal that ISN’T so stressful on my Glycemic Index??? (As if I know what THAT means)

Eating cereal in the morning is also my habit. I love the muesli with dark choco bits I get here in Belgium. Since I fast through breakfast, and typically try to stick with 1 large meal between 2 and 7 PM to cover most of my calories, I can have a small bowl of cereal before bed if I feel like I might wake up in the middle of the night. I’ve done it a few times and it kills the cravings while not disrupting the calories or fasting.

Good luck finding your groove with it!

THANKS, Tess! Good tip. You’re totally right. I am postponing “breakfast” so long – that it’s becoming lunch foods anyway! And I’m searching the “health food” stores for cereals that don’t have the “bad” ingredients – so if I WANT a cereal snack later, it won’t be the worst.

Korrie…if you want cereal, eat it. The eat stop eat program is not about good foods vs. bad foods…just make sure to count the calories on non-fast days.

I completely understand you wanting to get the healthiest options in, so that will be excellent for you in the long term…but it really is ALL about the calories.

I have a cup full of cereal in my yogurt dessert almost EVERY night. Worth every one of those 110 calories, but I will tell you I found some caramel rice cakes the other day that I’ve been using and they are only 50 calories.

I like breakfast food so when I eat around noonish I have that if I want feel like it. It’s only breakfast food because that’s when we normally eat it – but it’s just food so have it anytime.

Eat what you want and eat what you like. Account for the calories. That’s all.
No good foods or bad foods. Just too much food.
